* The project

It’s simple: I wanna travel around the world without using an airplane. That means that I will try to cross all waterways and oceans “overland”. Why am I doing that? I think, a different way of consuming, living and another handling with the environment is not just possible, it’s absolutely necessary! Even if I’m sure that the nature will strike back sooner or later and will force the people to care more about the ressources, the emissions, the species etc I do think for myself that I don’t want to be a part of the game any more.

With this project I try to show that it’s possible to live in an alternative way of living and travelling for an indefinite period of time even without a filled up bank account. I don’t wanna trust in the statements of my bank account and the timetables of the big airlines, I wanna trust in the bonhomie and helpfullness of the people. I want to see all the people I will meet on my way around the world as my partners. Partners who support this project (even if they will never know the name of this project), it really doesn’t matter how people will support this project. If it’s a shelter for the night, just a lift in car, a meal or a good chat in a frustrating situation which embolds me again, every single person will help me with their acting or presence to realise and to finish this project (hopefully ;-) ). I want to see all people in the world as something like my backbone and I want to rely on my backbone, not on airlines. I don’t like the way the capitalist society “works”. I see very well the exploiters who do everything that the situation with a good doing elite of one billion people, some two billion struggling and three billion almost starving people won’t change here on planet earth because they belong to the first group but I didn’t loose the faith in the human species at all and I think I will find a lot of helpful and hyperfriendly people who are happy to support this project. And yeah, it’s obvious that I will need the support of people if I don’t use airplanes. Some people have to bring me over the oceans, I’m not able to pay cruise ships (and even If I would be able to I would never do).

My major way of transportation on my trip will be hitchhiking. Of course hitchhiking is a very cheap way to travel and i couldn’t afford to pay public transportion all the way around the globe but there are many more reasons why hitchhiking is the best way of moving around in my opinion. There are millions of cars on this planet who have one or several free seats  and drive into every possible corner of the world. Why not taking one of the free seats if the car is going in my direction anyway? That will be by far the most ecologic way of travelling with the smallest footprint I can leave during my trip. In my opinion hitchhiking is also the most interesting way of travelling. You get to know a lot of different local people who will give you a lift and who can tell you stories, guide you and give you hints and tips. On the other way round I’m something like new an acquaintanceship for them as well and I hope I can give something back to the people who will pick me up with exchanging my story, my thoughts and just my company. People live from social contacts and social networks and it’s very interesting for me to meet new people who live or grew up in a completely different social network and hopefully it’s the same for the persons who will pick me up, too.

I will head east, in the direction of the rising sun. I don’t make too much plans and I don’t have to have too much plans because I’ve got time which enables me to change my direction, destination or target in every minute i feel like changing the direction, destination or target but I wanna go around the world so the way could look like: Germany > Poland > Lithuania > Latvia > Estonia > Russia > Mongolia > China > Southeast Asia > Australia/NZ > Polynesia > Micronesia > Melanesia > The Americas > Africa > Europe.

Have fun following my way and this “project” and if you wanna support me, please don’t hesitate to contact me ;-)
